This design has a futuristic look, even though it is more than 20 years old. The Nike Air Vapormax Plus, an updated version of the 1998 Nike Air Max, is now available. The 1998 Nike Air Max was inspired by Florida's ocean currents. It is all about distinctive features. Nike Air Vapormax Plus continues this design tradition with wavy details that mimic the movement of palm trees.

European Design
Tom Minami, Senior Nike Footwear Designer says that this update was challenging but that "without any midsole nor sockliner you get to feel Air in a whole different way." The original Air Max trainers had a sole with Air. But with the VaporMax, Air efficiency has become the main focus. This new technology allows for improved bounce and a more powerful stride.
