The 1998 Nike Air Max was inspired by Florida's ocean currents. It is all about distinctive features. Nike Air Vapormax Plus continues this design tradition with wavy details that mimic the movement of palm trees.

European Design
Tom Minami, Senior Nike Footwear Designer says that this update was challenging but "without any sockliner or midsole, you get to experience the Air in an entirely new way." The original Air Max trainers had a sole that was filled with Air. But with the VaporMax, Air efficiency has become the main focus. This new technology allows for superior bounce as well as a more powerful stride.
